Background

In Europe soccer is the most popular sport. One Country that agrees in Europe is the topic; Romania. The UEFA(Union of European Football Associations) controls the rules and managment of the game in Europe. In Romania the main soccer teaof the country had what theycalled the golden years of soccer there when they went to the U.S and during their time there they even made it to the Quarter finals in the country.


Important Person: Ilie Natase

My person is Ilie Năstase, a famous tennis player in the 1960’s and 70’s for being proclaimed the best tennis player in the world from 1973 to 1974 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). He is also one of the five players to win more then 100 pro titles in singles and in doubles and in 1991 his name was put in the Tennis Hall of Fame. Today, throughout the world, he is still known as ne of the greatest tennis players of all time and is a national icon to Romania. 


Important Sports Symbol

Federatia Romania De Fotball is the Romana soccer league and its symbol is on all professional romanian soccer teams in the country of Romania. Founded in 1909, this soccer league sent Romania into its golden age of soccer and is one of the best known sports symbols  


Important Place

The upcoming Lia Monoliu stadium, which is set to open in 2010, is going to be the new national stadium in Romania starting then. With soccer being the favorite and most popular sport in Romania, it was made into a soccer field. The owners have already put 119,077 Euros into the project. It should be able to seat around 55,000 people at a time reaching the largest a sports stadium has ever been in Romanian history
